Hannibal Indivisible is a diverse community organization in Hannibal, Missouri, composed of local residents dedicated to fostering a better future. We are part of Indivisible, a national grassroots movement that unites thousands of local Indivisible groups with the goal of electing progressive leaders and revitalizing our democracy.
Step by step, and action by action, the members of Hannibal Indivisible are working to reshape our democracy.
Driven by a shared concern for the freedoms and opportunities that have been eroded by self-serving politicians, Hannibal Indivisible aims to understand the joys and challenges faced by our neighbors. We explore the relationships we cherish, ambitions achieved and those still to be fulfilled, our health and wellbeing, our paths to success, and the obstacles that hinder our progress.
We show up. We make calls. We listen to our neighbors. We organize. Through these efforts, we cultivate movements that reflect local values. With backing from our state and national Indivisible organization, and by identifying the needs of our community, we can establish lasting power in our region, equipping ourselves with the political strength to ensure our values are represented in 'our' government—city, state, and national.

Mission
At Hannibal Indivisible, our mission is to know our neighbors, help them overcome barriers to getting ahead, and ensure their representation in the institutions of government: City, County, State, and Country. This includes supporting the election of progressive leaders at every level of public service.
Strategy
Defeating a multi-decade, extremist political takeover of the American government isn't easy. But at Hannibal Indivisible, we’re here to win, and we have a plan. Here’s how we’re doing it:
We Are Indivisible. Our opponents depend on a divide and conquer strategy, so we treat an attack on one as an attack on all. We show up for each other, particularly for those facing the brunt of rightwing attacks - often immigrants, people of color, and low-income individuals. We share a vision: a Representative Democracy of, by, and for everyone.
Strong Leaders, Strong Groups, Strong Movement. We build and sustain the power of our community organization by helping individuals take leadership roles. They grow and lead local efforts, take independent action, and coordinate with their fellow local leaders. As a movement, our strength comes from coordinated local, state, and national campaigns where we act together: Indivisible.
Inside/Outside Strategy. We understand systems of power—like how Congress operates—and we work within them to achieve results. This complements our outside strategy of locally based constituent pressure to demand that elected leaders, both Republican and Democrat, work for our democracy.
A Virtual Cycle of Advocacy and Elections. We advocate for policy wins in off-years and mobilize to get out the vote in election years. These efforts reinforce each other to ensure our democracy works for all of us and that those in power do too: we hold our representatives accountable, or we will replace them with electees who will.
Indivisible began as the Indivisible Guide, a resource for community organization aimed at mobilizing locals and pressuring elected officials to resist Trump’s agenda: Project 2025. The guide gained immense popularity as millions embraced the name Indivisible, forming their own local Indivisible groups to implement its strategies. These new Indivisible activists united to create a nationwide movement, empowering individuals through collective action, exemplified by Hannibal Indivisible.
Indivisible National has evolved alongside the Indivisible movement, establishing a professional team of organizers, campaigners, digital and data specialists, and other experts to support progressive leaders and the broader movement. Like many social movement organizations, the staff at Indivisible operates independently from the grassroots efforts, just as Hannibal Indivisible engages in autonomous actions while coordinating with state and national teams.
Today, the Indivisible movement represents a vibrant grassroots effort of millions of activists across every state. It thrives on the partnership between thousands of independent local Indivisible groups and a dedicated national staff. The national team provides strategic leadership, movement coordination, and support to Indivisible activists, including Hannibal Indivisible. They actively lobby Congress, build strategic partnerships, run media campaigns, and develop advocacy strategies.
Together, we strive to thwart the autocratic takeover of the American government and foster a democracy that serves everyone, by everyone.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
